Sherwood Signmakers Ltd. Terms of trade

All prices on this website exclude carriage and VAT and may be altered without notice. There is a minimum order charge of £45 excluding carriage and VAT. All prices are a guide only and we reserve the right to charge a higher price for complex or especially time consuming work. Any artwork charges will be quoted at the time of order but may be revised upwards should multiple design changes be requested by the customer.

Payment terms
Our normal terms of business are payment with order by cheque or credit card. Subject to status, credit accounts are available to customers who order on a regular basis. Credit accounts are available to schools, colleges, Government Agencies, Councils and Local Authorities. All credit account terms are 30 days from date of invoice.

All products are shipped by overnight courier to UK destinations. All other destinations will be advised at time of despatch.

When you request a design or proof you are commiting to an order for the supply of the finished goods. We do not supply proofs on a speculative basis. Design time will be chargeable should an order be cancelled after proofs have been submitted. Proofs will be supplied via email or post on request. Proof colours must be regarded as a guide only. Where colour is critical we will supply a full machine proof on the material of the finished job at a cost of £10. Artwork charges include the first proof. Multiple design changes will incur additional charges. It is the responsibility of the customer to carefully check proofs for errors or omissions. Reprints due to proofs not being properly checked will be charged in full.

Standard tolerances: Rigid signs +/- 10mm. Banners +/- 50mm. If size is critical please advise us at the time of order. Unless you mention anything at the time of order we will work to the above tolerances.

We cannot be held liable for any consequential loss arriving from late delivery. If a job is needed for a specific date we recommend early ordering. Once a job leaves our factory we have no control over delivery time. Although we ship via the carrier we consider to be the best in the industry, mistakes do very occasionally happen. Our liability will be limited to the replacement of faulty products. Any errors or omissions must be reported in writing within 3 days of delivery.

We take the greatest care in all aspects of the manufacture of our products and use high quality materials throughout. The life of any sign product however is determined to a great extent by how it is fitted or used. Many sign failures are due to poor fitting or incorrect product selection. We will not be held liable for any claim for damages or consequential loss arising from the failure of a product supplied by us but not fitted by us. Under such circumstances, you the customer agree to indemnify us against any such claim. We give no guarantee or warranty on the life of any product not fitted by ourselves.

Cancellation charges
At proofing stage: £25 plus any artwork charges. Once production has started: full invoice value.

Planning Permission
It is the sole responsibility of you the customer to obtain planning permission for any sign project. We will provide general advice but we cannot give specific advice for any project as local customs and bye-laws vary throughout the country.

It is the responsibility of you the customer to obtain permission for the use of images or logos incorporated into artwork supplied for us to print from or for the use of images or logos supplied to us to incorporate into finished artwork. In placing an order you are agreeing to indemnify us against any action for breach of copyright arising from our use of such supplied images or logos.
